A little bit of Fröccs

"Fröccs" - spritzer in English - is a very refreshing drink, a mix of wine and soda water.

It became a Hungaricum, based on the decision of the The Hungaricum Comitee, in October 2015.

To recall the origin of the drink and the name we have to go back to the 19.century. Although the wine has been diluted with simple water long ago, diluting with soda water is a Hungarian invention. In 1826 Mr. Ányos Jedlik, a worldwide known physicist, presented the the soda making mechanism, and he called the drink "spritzer". Some years later his friend, Mr. Mihály Vörösmarty, a famous hungarian poet used the word "Fröccs" first.

Conventional mixes

"Hosszúlépés"/“Big step”: 1 part wine to 2 parts soda water
"Házmester"/“Janitor”: 3 parts wine to 2 parts soda water
