Bull's Blood Experience in Eger
Don't miss the chance to visit the beautiful historical town Eger and the Eger wine region, leave Budapest behind for a day for a unique wine experience. Make your own Bull's Blood in the exclusive wine bar and enjoy the tasting of Eger wines and listen the presentation of the winemaker about nature, humility and love.
The uniqueness of the wine region has always been its ability to grow vines capable of producing quality red and white wines. The most famous one of the region is undoubtedly, Egri Bikavér, "Bull's Blood” which is a Kékfrankos Blaufrankisch based red cuvée, a blend of three or more grapes. Winegrowers invest a lot of time and money for repositioning the brand. We are going to taste some excellent examples during our tasting tour. Besides Kékfrankos, Pinot Noir, Cabernets and Kadarka are the most commonly planted red grape varieties. Among whites Hárslevelű, Olaszrizling and Leányka are the most popular ones, each autochthon types. There is a new region brand: Egri Csillag "The Star of Eger" which is a uniform blend of white grape varieties.

We also take part in a wine blending workshop, where we make our own Bikavér. Lunch will be offered during the programme. The tasting will be followed by a walking tour in the beautiful historical town of Eger. After sightseeing we head to Egerszalók, a small village nearby. One of the village’s main attractions is the thermal spring erupting from deep in the earth and limestone hill created by water runoffs over the years. The „Salt Hill” has become the symbol of the region, it is unique in Europe. We take a walk around the 1200 square metres hill before arriving for our second tasting. The winemaker creates incomparable, lovely wines. His philosophy is very simple: the quality of wine depends on the health of the grapes in vineyards. Arrive in Budapest in the evening.
